The 2016 Australian Open was my first opportunity to become a Tennis Correspondent on SEN Radio, appearing on the 1st Serve Tennis Show with Brett Phillips, The Ultimate Wrap Show with Tony Schibechi as well as providing regular special comments throughout the Australian Open.
Successfully completed the AFL Level 2 Coaching Course and was then asked to present to the course a topic that is close to me, “Coaching Individual Athletes in a Team Environment.”
Seeing the ups and downs over 10 years at the Richmond Football Club was a real eye opener, but to see the club pull through so many challenging times and win the 2017 AFL Grand Final was amazing. Being a part of this great club has helped shaped my coaching and athlete philosophies.
Coaching alongside one of my mentors, Craig McRae and making a Grand Final in the VFL in 2017 was one of the highs of my coaching career. Although The Richmond Football Club fell a few points short of premiership glory, our journey has been a great learning curve and one that promises to continue in 2018.
As well as presenting Coaching Workshops, Seminars and Coach Education, I also conduct Athlete Seminars for athletes trying to make the pinnacle of their sport. Presenting to a Dance Studio was never something I thought I would do but I felt amazing satisfaction with the response from the audience.
It was an honour to be asked to speak at the inaugural ‘World Tennis Technique Summit’ and presenting the biomechanics of the double handed backhand.
Being part of the Bryan Brothers team has been a dream for me. 117 titles including 16 grand slams, these guys are the best doubles team of all time. Having been involved in the 2017 campaign, I was able to watch them almost win their 17th slam, although runner up was an amazing effort.
Conducting a coaching conference for the Vietnamese Tennis Federation was another step in my Coach education journey and one of great reward, with so many coaches in Vietnam never having the exposure to coach development before.
It was an honour to be asked by Adam Blicher to be on his tennis coaching podcast and tell my story in the hope of providing advice and helping others in a similar coaching position as me.
Coaching a player like Dane Propoggia with his unlimited potential but also so many injury problems has been rewarding but challenging. His coach ability is second to none and working with him has always been fulfilling. Meeting Dane has taught me so much about coaching athletes to reach their full potential.
After 12 years of Coach Education, I have written and developed my own Coach Eduction Workshop which i have been presenting all over the world. Its satisfying to have people trusting in my philosophies as a coach.
Being nominated in the top three Talent Development Coaches in Australia in two consecutive years was great recognition for developing some of the countries best junior players.

My 4 year relationship with Victor began with a chance meeting at the Hopman Cup and has continued on til now (2018) where we consistently talk about coaching as his playing days are over and he has made a transition to running his own tennis academy. Victor was a top 30 player, Davis Cup player for Romania and Quarter Finalist of the French Open and our relationship as player and coach was one that took me to another level in my career.
The one player who gave me a lot of satisfaction being a coach was Karan Rastogi of India. Karan came to me after major surgery on his back where he was told the chances of playing professional tennis again were minimal. To get him back on the court and competing at the top level where he represented India in the Davis Cup was extremely rewarding and one i will never forget.
Anastasia and Arina were 2 players whom I have had a 10 year coaching and friendship relationship with. Working with both girls i was able to see them through some great moments including Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games and Fed Cup representation for Australia. In 2016 the girls made the Quarter Final of the Australian Open Doubles together which was an amazing moment. So proud have had such a long association with two great athletes/people.

Working as an assistant in player development under mentors Craig McRae,Jade Rawlings & Tim Clarke, I then moved into an assistant coach role in Richmond’s inaugural Standalone VFL team in 2014 until now where i am the Director of Coaching.

Using my strength of hitting as i was still an inexperienced coach i was a sparring partner/coach for players such as Di Wu, Zhang Shuai and Yuan Meng amongst others. The more experience i could gain was always going to be hugely beneficial to my long term coaching aspirations.
As a young coach i was keen to experience working with as many players who could teach me as much as i could teach them. Monique, was a fantastic person whom i worked with throughout 2004-2006.
As part of the Melbourne International Tennis School, I was part of the team entrusted to deliver coaching workshops for 3 years at the Beijing Sports University for over 100 coaches at a time over 1 week.

As a 14 year old I began coaching under my Coach/Mentor coach Michael Baroch. He introduced me to coaching concepts and gave me a taste of what a coaching career would be like. I am forever grateful to have a great mentor like Michael.
